Sunset
05:49
|
|||
I'm on the ocean
it's lost its motion
I don't bob or sway
As night descends
it's how I spend
Earth's last day
The people gather
as the stained glass shatters
At their feet from the wind
The Earth is cooling
with ice accruing
as it loses its spin
In pursuit of the night
the stars decide
to fade into space
The universe remains
but the obscurity maintains
a state of grace
The leaves are leaving, the seasons ceasing
but where is the sun?
The wind is winding, with searchers finding
but where is the sun?
The years are yearning, twisting and turning
but where is the sun?
The tears that tear through the solar flare
to where is the sun?
But where is the sun?

Here Lies the Sun
03:50
|
|||
High in the mountains,
they only know of night
But they seek to see,
and so they search for light
They climb down the misty mountains
to a place with no name
When the fog cleared to show the ocean,
and this brilliant ball of flames
Here Lies the Sun
Deep underground
they'll never know the day
But the boy is sick of stones
and ascends through the caves
At the mouth of the grotto
Unforeseen by him
He's met by the fierce and golden
and his harsh, unceasing wind
Here Lies the Sun

If you wanna know how I'm feelin'
If you want to know what's going on
I'm not sure if I'm sad or happy
That it all went for so long
The seasons, they change
But I wouldn't have changed a thing
I thought that we were happy
But blessed is the Christchurch spring
The people walk down the road
With their heads in their hands
And nothing to show
They all march to the tune
But their hearts don't beat much
And so they sing in lieu
If you wanna know how I'm feelin'
If you want to know whats going on
I cannot say for sure
Now that everything is gone
Its certainly bizarre
Without a place for our souls to do their emptying
But every winter
Must inevitably
Move to spring
I'm standing in the rain
I'm outside your door
With so much to say
But if you don't let me in soon
I'll be on my way to where the flowers bloom
The people walk down the road
With their heads in their hands
And nothing to show
They all march to the tune
But our hearts don't beat much
And so we sing in tune

Rain
04:37
|
|||
One more cup of coffee
is just what I need
Our eyes, they roll
as we listen to you breathe
Like two brothers from the bible,
or some freak from Notre Dame
I'm not convinced by the words that you say
I'm expecting rain
Brothers, what a shame
at the cliffs, nothing below
Flashes of lightning
and the wind,
it blows
But it doesn't pick up the dust
And the leaves do not sway
It still blinds our eyes
But still we play
We're expecting rain
The radio sings softly
playing nothing but static
It's enough to mask the sound
of the thunder, so sporadic
It's not something I fear,
nor something I disdain
It's just the way that it jogs my memory
and everything replays
From when it first rained

Requiem
05:19
|
|||
There lies a valley
That we'd best never go
Columns of white
Pillars of smoke
How I wish your voice
Could echo through the hills
Sombre horns pierce
The wind so shrill
Can you feel?
Can you hear,
The thunder of the horse's hooves
The sky, it opens up
Without you here
Overwhelmingly pure
Yet riddled with stone
You'd best venture forth
You'd best do it alone
But I will wait here
We'll wait until
Someday we'll hear, and
The winds will fall still
Can you feel?
Can you hear
The thunder of the horse's hooves
The sky, it opens up
Without you here

Tangerine Beach
05:23
|
|||
There's nothing quite like
the vacuum of space
when it comes to the mystery
of what it contains.
The uncertainty is pressing
and it forever holds your gaze,
but look back down here and you might just so find
yourself in the sun's golden rays
And the song of a bird who nests
in a tree of dying leaves
Will call just as loud and undoubtedly sound
just as sweet
And though your tree may be wilted
and it may be time to flee
in unbroken song you will sing and fly on
to a pine by the beach
The orange sand will melt under your feet
The blue of your eyes at home with the sea
The sun will pour in and then finally
You'll bask in the beach's tangerine

Swan Song
06:00
|
|||
The girl walks alone
down the moonlit street
and when the wind doesn't blow
she can feel her heart beat
There's nobody near
and there's nothing you can hear
Except the sound of her feet
And all she has with her
are torn pages from a book
She doesn't know from which story
she didn't care to look
Of all the things she owns
and of all she's ever known
It's all she took
Her world seems cold and empty
but in reality there's plenty to see.
Across the stream
the boy sits on the ground
In the dew of the grass,
nothing makes a sound
In the day he'll sell his paintings
but 'til then he'll just lie waiting
'til there are people around
The coat that he wears
is tattered and threadbare
A gift from his parents
it lets in the cool air
It doesn't keep him warm
nor give shelter from the storms
but he doesn't care
Because it's all that he has left
from his family except
memories of love and care
The Swan in the stream
has never spoke a word
but tonight for the first time
his call can be heard
His song was so stunning,
it made the boy and girl come running
to the bird
And at the top of each bank
they both looked for the swan
and their eyes met each other's
as the hills echoed its song
As the day grew near
it was dishearteningly clear
the bird was gone
But they made not a sound
for they'd both finally been found.
A new day dawned
